In-depth defect inspection of precast double walls using non-destructive techniques

چکیده

Precast double walls are frequently used for building applications and consist of a pair precast reinforced concrete shells connected by lattice girder creating an inner cavity. Once placed at its final position this cavity is filled with freshly cast compacted concrete. Aside from benefits such as increased ease in installation, reduced cost shorter construction time also some pitfalls recognized. Due to the restrained space presence truss undesired defects (e.g. voids, honeycombing, etc.) might occur without being noticed, outer wall elements act formwork. This actually reduce load capacity jeopardize structural integrity structure. Therefore, different non-destructive tests order assess filling degree localize defects, varying success ratio (i.e. detectability). Different techniques were applied on test intentionally embedded (polystyrene blocks) diameter: rebound hammer, ultrasonic pulse velocity via direct transmission, shear-wave tomography, ground penetrating radar active infrared thermography. The limits these depth defect localization discussed paper. effect selected detection method surface-on-depth itself has detectability.

Robotic Non-Destructive Inspection

Automation of non-destructive testing (NDT) of engineering components and structures represents one of the strategic objectives of many industries. It enables increases in accuracy, precision and speed of inspection while reducing production time and associated labour costs in contrast to manual inspection. The use of robots can provide additional flexibility and autonomy to automated NDT. Auto...

Data fusion for automated non-destructive inspection

In industrial non-destructive evaluation (NDE), it is increasingly common for data acquisition to be automated, driving a recent substantial increase in the availability of data. The collected data need to be analysed, typically necessitating the painstaking manual labour of a skilled operator. Moreover, in automated NDE a region of an inspected component is typically interrogated several times...

Non Destructive Testing and Defect Detection Using Moire Deflectometry

Nondestructive testing and defect detection using optical techniques has been extensively investigated. This communication presents a simple method for defect detection in deformed circular plates using moiré deflectometry. The experimental arrangement is simple, inexpensive and does not require elaborate vibration isolation requirements.
